MARK CHAPMAN : PERU GALLERY

Subject:

Hexham Abbey

Hexham Abbey clock taken from the Abbey Flags, on the North side near the cemetery. The Abbey, when destroyed in the 12th Century by the Scots, was one of the tallest buildings in Europe. The present Church of England building was re- built but the still contains the crypt from the earlier building.
