Subject:
Lord's Bridge, Devils Water, Dilston.
This little used and forgotten bridge now forms the path between Dilston Scout Camp and the Hall grounds, now a College.
During the 16th century the bridge was the westerly entrance to Dilston Hall, Castle and Chapel.
The bridge and wall are the remnants of the large grounds and gardens that ran from the Hall to the riverside at Devils Water below. ‘Dilston’ is named after ‘Devils-ton’ or ‘Dyvels-ton’
