Devils water and waterfall at Swallowship Woods above Hexham.

Just down from Linnels Bridge and the pool, Devils Water runs into the woods and on to the Scout camp at Dilston. The river runs from Hexhamshire and Dipton, and has a brown colour from the peat on the moors. Swallowship has some high sandstone areas which have been eroded away by Devils Water to form the cliffs, just upstream of this image, and there are small waterfalls along it’s length.
